So Now What?
June 4, 2006
All those nights developing, all those days testing and finally a beta product is done. But now what? Well, by trade i'm a technologist, not a marketer. If you needed me to write a program to communicate with other systems to spread the word then i'm all over it. But when it comes to properly marketing this sort of stuff, it's out of my league.
So one thing I know how to do is blog. So i'll keep this blog up and about to talk about my experience and give you some updates on the site. I have a bunch of features planned which will hopefully enhance the experience so i'll talk more about those when they come.
I suppose there are other ways to get the name out. A couple i've already done and have gotten some decent traffic from (and I say decent because we've only been live for 2 days!
). I've posted the site on a couple web 2.0 directory lists. One being Buzzshout (site profile here) and the other being Web2List (site profile here.)
Outside of that I suppose there are the regular culprits. I could post it to Digg or Reddit. I could approach some other bloggers to take a look at it (sites like Techcrunch, Mashable, Micro Persuasion, Scoble (this is a .net app
), etc).
And here's one article to leave you with, it's a post I ran across giving some advice to getting traffic to your blog.
